About the Architect

I am a graduate of Tufts University with a BA in Economics and the Rhode Island School of Design with a Bachelor of Fine Arts and Bachelor of Architecture. I have been Principal of my own firm, James D. Smith Architects, for over thirty years and have done thousands of commercial, institutional, residential, manufacturing, and residential projects all over the country--specializing in large scale remodels, renovations, and roll out programs for quick service restaurants (QSR's) and full service restaurants.

I have built a reputation for excellence in design, detailed and accurate construction documents, competitive rates, and exceptional responsiveness. With over 8,000 projects over the course of my career, registrations in 48 states, and a network of engineers and expediters, my firm has steadily expanded its services and coverage area and become truly national in scope.
